Dong Juan Opens At Centrio Ayala Mall
Finally, Dong Juan, a Cebu Homegrown restaurant arrives at Centrio Ayala Mall to serve every “Dong” and “Juan” in Cagayan de Oro. A not so typical Pinoy restaurant as their dishes are a product from around the world but with a Filipino touch. Now, that’s the pinoy part which you should never miss.
Their main dishes are usually not served with rice but that’s because all of those are in big servings. A minimum of two, I think, can already share even their gourmet burgers. But in case, you are about to order the staple food, they have a unique fried rice to serve you.
On the other hand, each of the dishes, desserts, burgers and drinks are uniquely prepared for a Dong Juan personal touch. The famous Iced Tea in a bottle or flower vase and who never loves their Kalamansi blush? That’s just a few of what Dong Juan are being famous of.
Moving on with Dong Juan Menu, they are equipped with dishes for a complete full meal. As part of the CDO bloggers, we are pleasured and thankful to be invited and had the chance to taste almost one dish per category in their menu.
Fritters
Before diving to the main dish, you might want to have some appetizers or light food. Dong Juan Fritters can provide you that. It is called Fritters as all the dishes consist a portion of either a batter or breading filled with something in it.
The Mozzarella sticks on the other hand, is pure mozzarella covered with breading and paired with their very own marinara sauce. While Beef Tadyang, as what Kagayanons might all wonder, is Beef Ribs in layman’s term. We all love ribs as with our fascination of lechon ribs, now Dong Juan is serving you with crispy Beef Tadyang.
Sizzlers
Probably, this is the category for their main dishes which All Meat Pochero was our choice the first time my friend and I ate at Dong Juan Centrio Mall. I have only knonw Pochero served in soup but theirs is sizzled with gravy giving a familiar taste as that from a sizzling ox toungue. I love the combination as well the potato chips at the sides which adds “yumminess” even if eaten together with both rice and pochero.
Gourmet Burgers
Ever heard of a Wheat Bread used for Burgers? Don’t just listen but taste every Dong Juan Gourmet Burgers. At least the patty is being compensated with the wheat bread which is not a super heavy for your diet. For chilli lovers or those who really loves “hot” food, Red Hot Chilli Burger gives you a satisfaction. They use an imported chilli from Singapore since our local products would “over” the hotness or chilliness. What I can say, truly it’s just right even if you eat the red stuffs.
Pasta
I’m smelling the sea as I roll over their Pasta category. Dishes are mostly seafood for a different thing. The Gambas Past sauce does really taste seafood or the shrimps which makes you wanna roll your fork over and over again then you realize, you’ve finished everything already.
Salad, Pizza and Soup
You’ve all heard the uniqueness of every dish category, of course you would not miss as well for their Salad, Pizza and Soup which makes me think to dine again to try those.
Others
As I have said, Dong Juan is a fusion of food from around the world the reason also why you rarely see a dish paired with rice, you have come to the right part of their menu where everything you are looking for can be found of. Additionals: gravy and fried egg and french rice and of course Dong Juan Fried Rice.
Include as well their Baby Back Ribs in Barbecue Sauce. Did you know that it takes 6 hours for the whole cooking and preparation? Yes, and we can just even finish it in a matter of 6 minutes. At least we have given justice as their 6 hours of preparation yields yummy results. And yup, it is indeed yummy with a unique taste, a not so typical baby back ribs taste. Try it!
Honestly, you can survive eating only with the fried rice and then just pair it with Kalamansi blush since I am a rice-eater. Then, what’s more if paired with their delish dishes then that’s two times the delish.
Desserts
Almost at the end part and our stomachs are almost bursting with fullness and yumminess but those were not enough to say no for desserts.teehee Ice Cream burger served in our table. It’s vanilla ice cream in an oatmeal cookie bun or burger.
Beverages
And the most awaited Dong Juan famous beverages. Iced Tea served in a bottle and Kalamansi in a unique blush. Kalamansi blush came to existence after the couple have visited places outside the Philippines and witnessed a lot of lemonade drinks with another different colored drink. But because the Philippines is known for Kalamansi, they used it instead.
How my friend and I enjoyed mixing the Kalamansi Blush? Watch below. A Trivia to ponder, Did you know that Kalamansi Blush is being served more than rice?
